I have just started using Elvive extraordinary oil having never used an oil of any type before. It's already making a difference to my long, thick, wavey hair and I'm hoping it lasts! Two drops are enough for below-shoulder length hair. Also smells amazing!

I use Macadamia Oil and that is nice but expensive. The best thing I found was pure olive oil left in my hair (under a fetching shower cap) for around 30mins and rinsed. Best thing ever for dead hair :D x

i love the joico kpak oil.
i tried arganoil, oliveoil and an alverde one (which is a german drugstore brand) before, but i have very thin and fine hair so the chance of it looking greasy with those oils is really high.
but the joico one is not as liquid as other ones and is really easy to spread with a small amount of product, which is great and doesnt leave my hair oily. my hair just looks shiny and healthy and also feels amazing.

Suggestions:

1. Oily stuff works (in my experience) better as a pre-wash than as a leave-in afterwards: on damp hair (wetted with warm water), left for even just a few minutes before washing out. But that means using one of the oils that haven been proven to actually do anything to hair: avocado, coconut, meadowfoam seed, olive. Possibly argan, though there's not enough data yet.
That is: an oil that works all over, including on the hair's inner core. Pretty much any oil (and many silicones) will do the superficial jog just fine, of coating the outide cuticle and smoothing it down: from baby oil to rare exotic magic-potion concoctions!

Sources:
---Olive oil = the cooking extra virgin stuff from the supermarket;
---avocado = the food kind again, sometimes with cooking oils and sometimes with salad dressings;
---meadowfoam = you'd probably be buying it online, never saw it in shops in Ireland (comes from where I live now, the Pacific north-west)
---coconut = probably health-food stores; food or cosmetic sort; and no point paying extra for "extra-virgin" as it's the same stuff and production method as plain old good Catholic "virgin."

2. Of these, argan's one of the lightest-feeling (but actual oil, not that Moroccanoil stuff which is mainly cyclomethicone); I also got good results (i.e. shinylocks) with combinations of meadowfoam and olive and some avocado. Currently using a 50/50 mix of olive & meadowfoam.

3. If it's making hair smooth and shiny afterwards you're after, the superficial aesthetics: any oil (or oil/silicone blend, or silicone), decant into a spritz bottle and add some of your favourite perfume.

Re Alfaparf, just make sure you get the right one. The one that is suitable for hair and body is actually supposed to be rinsed out of hair. The one I use doesn't. And it smells sweet and yummy :), does all that MoroccanOil does (shorten drying time etc) and lasts forever. I've mine since April and hardly put a dent in it. It's €20.

I don't like the Nuxe oil as I'm not mad on the fragrance. I use Kiehl's Dry Argan oil on the bod; I first bought this in the US in 2009 and it has been a staple ever since. :)
