It is lovely on you. As for the leather skirt, I don’t think it would be a turn off for men at all, and that’s the issue. If you want to make a first impression, I don’t think dominatrix is the one to go for :D . I have a PU skater skirt that I am living in this winter but no one is meeting me for the first time in it if you know what I mean. I’m not against leather skirts per se, but not for a first date.

I’d much rather a “like your hat” than “hey how u doin” which is what MOST online dating messages seem to say. Ladyjane, I don’t think it’s too much but I guess we’ve established that I’m happy to fork out on clothes! (In my defence, I don’t drink so I save an AWFUL lot on going out that I’d be more than happy to put into my wardrobe fund.)

For my first date I wore my favourite dress, a pair of black boots, a black mock shearling jacket, and a magenta pink beret. (It was winter).

We met under Clery’s clock four years ago, and have been married 6 months.

One tip for online dating I would give you is to use an accessory in your photo. I wore the beret in mine, and it gave men an ‘in’, so to speak.

Show a photo of yourself in a hat, or in the snow, or in fancy dress. Just don’t use sunglasses. People like to see the whites of your eyes.

For my first date with my boyfriend I wore black skinny jeans, a cotton grey body skimming long sleeved top with a bit of ruching (sp?!) and sequins with hair tied up as I thought that would be a bit more casual. Nice natural make-up. Didn’t want to kill myself with effort in case I didn’t like him&it feel like a waste ha ha! Met him online on pof ;o)

At the time I was also still living in a small city that wasn’t very friendly for high heels, and at the time I didn’t really wear dresses.

So my typical first date outfit would be jeans, sneakers (converse mostly), a T-shirt/ shirt/cardigan that I found flattering and felt comfortable in, and then I would make most of my hair and make-up, but in a subtle way. As I said, I didn’t want to look like it was a big deal for me ;-)
And sometimes it wasn’t either. :-D Ahhh the good student life!

But again, it depends on the person and what their personal style is. If you usually dress lin his kind of thing it will look and come across perfectly natural because you’ll feel comfortable. If a man is intimidated by a skirt he’s not much of a man in my opinion and defo not the man I’d want to go out with!
