For me it has to be the beautiful but genius Dana Scully from The X Files not your typical anti heroine but a character to inspire to, Also can’t leave out the crazy but brilliant Lisbeth Salander of The girl with the dragon tattoo saga, She seriously can dish out revenge!

Yes, I am a fan. Homeland is a great show, well executed. My absolute favourite would have to be Glenn Close in Damages. Complete sociopath and oh so cool.

Eos, she did win an Emmy, and deserved it.

And Hilary, how could I have forgotten to mention Saga! I loved her so much. She has Asperger’s syndrome, and it’s rare to see a female character with a condition like that. She was such a brilliant character, and I loved her relationship with Martin.

I have to agree with Anna and mememe1984, Claire Danes is amazing in Homeland. Her portrayal of Carrie is what makes the programme so good(along with a few other things! writing etc) and Im sure she has recently won an Emmy for it…..is that right??

I quite liked the lead female character from the drama The Bridge, Saga Noren.She is an excellent detective but unable to feel compassion or sympathize with others.
So glad to see these actors portraying different women with such sensitivity and skill.

Sylvia Tietjens in Parades End. She had affairs, yet went off to a convent for a retreat. Left her husband for another man, treated the lover with contempt,dumped him and following lovers and then decided to visit hubby in the Somme(or some WW1 location.)Oh, and also stayed ‘chaste’ for 5 years. A nasty piece of complex work, but I loved the character.
