Great post! I have oily skin so Im always on the look out for a good foundation that's works with my skin.. but for a foundation colour i always go to the one by ps beauty. Their foundation finder really helps me with picking the right colour, especially when I'm shoppign online xx

Great article but as someone with desert dry skin I'm really sick of all these oil free foundations and the myth that they are great for dry skin too. So many make up counter girls tell me this -clearly they don't have very dry skin, maybe normal to dry. For any of you whose face feels tight and looks like a wrinkly ,caked desert (despite being something) try shiseido the make up-only thing I've ever found that works and leave off a base as is more drying. xx

I have tried a heap of foundations on my pale, oily face over the last 12 months and still haven't found the holy grail.

Just came to the end of Chanel's Perfection Lumiere - only get about 6 hours out of it before it begins to grease up.

Had a big sample bottle of the new YSL one - got loads of compliments on how healthy my skin looked as it's so natural and flattering but was a bit worse than the Chanel one at sliding away around the 6 hour mark.

Tried a few samples from Mac last winter including Matchmaster - not bad but not good enough to make me purchase.

Got done up in Urban Decay's Naked Face or whatever it is last weekend but sadly they were outa samples in my shade. Seemed good but one test is not enough.

Currently defaulted to my old Estee Lauder DW Light - pretty good at setting and staying but the colour is manky on me and looks masky.

The one real positive thing I've discovered of late is blotting paper. Boots own brand is cheap and plentiful and great for touching up without removing all your foundation.

Have been using the Vichy one to cover my acne and acne scars for 2 years now. It has helped my confidence tremendously.

Nude (25) isn't the lightest shade though, Opal (15) is and its the perfect shade for my light skin.

On good days I have used it as a concealer, its absolutely brilliant and lasts for months! Definitely recommend.

I keep going back to EL doublewear, i need the coverage and extra points for it being pale enough for me too - but I find it less effective as i get to the end of a bottle, maybe it separates or something. I took a mad notion and bought Givenchy Eclat Matissime in the summer there and i have to say, it's lighter coverage and less hardwearing than the doublewear but it's an absolute dream to put on my face, and it smells lovely!
