It even costs money to defer for a year! Won’t give up though! I’ll go to the Credit Union and see if they’ll help me out. Do you know if you absolutely have to have a bank account to get a loan from the CU? I wish I’d known about it just a bit earlier, I might have been able to save-up or sort something. Sarabelle, you poor thing. Not the kind of stress you need! Don’t give up though. There are always solutions! You could start by calling into your local credit union/ bank. Could you contact the Dept of Education/ Social Welfare and ask them? There must be other people in the same circumstances. You must be able to appeal to someone in DCU too. As a last resort do you know anyone who could lend you the money?

Was just on to DCU there and my only options are to defer and wait till next year or come up with the money.. Jaysus!

Sarabelle, I hope you can sort it out, it would be so cruel to miss that opportunity, especially since you’ve worked so hard for it.

I feel very privileged today, I’ve been offered to try something before it goes on sale!
Ok, it’s not a beauty product, it’s not a designer outfit, it’s… a chocolate.
I have very good relations with the sale assistants of the chocolate shop close to work (fine Belgian chocolates), and I knew one of them was back from their headquarters in Brussels where she had seen the new collection. So we talked about it and she gave me a new praline to try, from the box of samples she had brought back. It was heaven! Dark chocolate filled with even darker one. Delicious.
It’s probably the only kind of exclusivity I’ll be treated to in my whole life, so I may as well enjoy it!

Thanks for the support everyone. Seriously! It means a lot. I’ve sent off an email to the fees and registry office explaining the situation so they might be able to help me out or organize a payment plan (hopefully).

I don’t think I’ll be able to get a loan as I closed my bank account a good while ago. I saw no reason for having one really and I’m not sure if I’d be able to open one and get a loan straight away. I did think about a Credit Union loan but they ask for bank statements and stuff and silly old me closed my feckin’ bank account.

Gossipgal – That’s what I applied for actually. I am qualified for the free fees scheme but it doesn’t cover registration which is €2238.00

I’m only 23 and I’d say a lot of students my age are have their parents helping them pay a bit of the fee, unfortunately I have neither a mammy or daddy to come to my rescue and the fees need to be paid soon. God I just feel sick thinking about it! Thanks for all the support lads x

Sarabelle you poor thing to hear that after all your hard work must have been a blow, but as the others have said, speak with the SU and admin office who may be able to help and also speak with your credit union, they’re usually pretty good for loans. Hope you get it sorted out! x
