Ooooooh, Christmas FM you say? Where would one go about finding that station? I’ll have to save it ASAP. I’m a sucker for Christmas. I love everything from the Christmas scented Yankee candles to the Santa claus jumpers. I’m the eldest of 7 and Christmas is still very much alive in our house. This is the first year that my youngest brother really understands and he is really excited already. I don’t ever remember any talk of Christmas when I was little before December. My mam refuses to put our tree up before the 8th aswell but that’s only because she hates putting up all of the decorations, it takes forever to do inside and out.

Christmas begins in the house about halfway through November, Christmas music, movies, candles… you name it. The decorations go up the night after the Late Late Toy Show (the tradition!)!!!

I’m not a big fan of Christmas either, think the really meaning of it is gone to be honest and its just all consumerism. I will put up a tree but the week before will do. Think its madness putting one up in November personally

I bought my tree last week…..it is still in it’s box though. Went for artificial this year as getting rid of a real from a 2nd storey apartment after all the tree-disposal things are finished was not the most joyous of occassions (clippers & black sacks were involved).

Will prob put things up the weekend of the 1st. I love Christmas but do think you should leave it till December to decorate. That said I know a friend who’s decorated as her little boy was so excited to put up the tree.

I’ve been planning Christmas since mid-September but that’s also coz I’m making my own cards so needed the time to get them sorted.

@ Beth TV: My a was the same, tree up Christmas Eve and not before. We also did all our Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. Tree down at Epiphany.
Christmas *used* to be something special, now, it’s an excuse to part hard-pressed consumers from their money. I admit I usually cave in and get the decorations out early (like the 18th), but with 11 cats in the house everything is wrecked by Christmas Day.

My mam Never puts the tree up until the week before xmas The last few years its been really hard to buy a decent tree that late. But she suddenly had an apiphany this year and decided she wants to put it up two weeks before

Im sure the whole, “no tree til a week before thing” will turn me into one of those people with OTT christmas lights on every square inch of their house….Im already mentally planning where to put the life-size raindeer!

Ugh, I’d divorce himself if he tried to put up a tree already!! I really dislike Christmas (and it’s not just bah humbuggery, it’s for many reasons) and so I put off putting up the tree until himself can’t take the excitement anymore (trust me to marry Mr Christmas!). It annoys me for most of the time it’s up and when it’s finally gone I feel like I have my house back. Thankfully in Oz Christmas is far more low key than at home so I can get away with ignoring it most of the time.

In our house, Christmas has always involved a stand off between daughter who would like the tree up on or before December 1 – and hubby who wants to leave it till Christmas Eve.

When she moved out to her first apartment, she put it up on 22nd November! I’m easy either way, but let them at it, one less thing for me to do.

Ah I do of course believe in Santa! And Christmas is so brilliant for children – it’s just when it’s the two of us we get really lazy – if we’re doing Stephens day we’ll have the tree and all the decos up for instance
But I humbly concede that I am winning the Bah Humbug badge of dishonour here!
