My brother who used to work in boots told me about the most amazing product in the world. i got hayfever a lot this summer and my nose was really raw.
its called pickles nose balm or no sore or something similar, the names rubbed of my stick!
its like a lip balm for your nose, much better than vaseline or anything else ive ever tried for sore red peely nose. you have to keep applying it but it definietly worked for me!
its very very very slightly green tinged to help with the redness :)

Honey, lemon and hot water, lemsip during the day if needed, and a spoon of honey just before bed - it helps with the coughing through the night.

Keep your liquids up as much as possible, with your nose running like a faucet lots of liquids are needed. While talking about noses, stock up on Kleenex Balsalm packets when you see them on offer in Tesco or Dunnes and have a pack or two in your handbag at all times, don't go near the cheapie tissues - my nose has even gotten to the stage of being raw when only they were used I was that dosed once, when it gets to that stage, or as soon as you get a dose to prevent this happening - vaseline on your nose at bedtime - works a treat.

Take off your coat when you get in doors, I know you're cold but you'll be even colder and feel worse if you keep it on all day and then are frozen going home. Layers are essential rather than a massive jumper as more than likely you'll be going through hot and cold stages through the day.
I know I'll think of more as soon as I hit 'submit comment'.

Berocca. My dad used to go on at me to take it but I am a convert! Haven't had a cough or cold since I've been taking it.
Also, savlon-ing your nose up after each nose blow keeps a crispy nose away.

Whatever you do DO NOT whisper if you have a sore throat or chest problems. It is the biggest strain on your voice. Seeing voice coach and she killed me for whispering at the children in my class. No wonder I've damaged my vocal chords!!!!

Acupuncture for anything viral, especially sinusitis. You can feel your head clearing on the table.

Inhaling Olbas oil over a bowl of hot water if your head is blocked.

Anything spicy, especially Hot and Sour soup. Will clear anyone's headcold.

I worked in a school once where all the teachers were coming down with a virus that lasted about 6 weeks.

I had, every day, the same sandwich: brown bread, tuna, red onions, sundried tomato, mixed peppers. I also cooked with a lot of garlic at home. I didn't become ill.

(The more coloured the vegetable, the better for you. Also, 1/4 of a pepper contains as much vitamin C as an orange).

Three things - echinacea, vitamin C and Manuka honey. The first two in recommended doses as a preventative, and if you come down with something take all three by the bus load. I swear it works and also improves your immune system no end. I used to suffer with colds really badly until two years ago when I started this regime. Now I hardly get a snuffle and if I do it's gone in a matter of days. And by gone I mean no trace, not mostly better but hanging around bothering you for weeks on end. My dosages if I'm sick are: every two hours take 30 drops of echinacea tincture in a small amount of water (v important - tablets/tea just won't cut it), one 500mg vitamin C tablet (ester c) and a spoonful of Manuka honey in hot water. You'll feel worse for a day but then immensely better. I cut this dosage back to every four hours after two days, and continue until I feel 100% well.
