BerG- have you tried asos I bought some diamonte clips/headbands from Johnny and Rosie on it. Some (not all) have the 20s Downton feel.

Rosemary: if you are around, I enjoyed your slot on Xpose. Those dresses were gorgeous.

Would you or anyone have any recommendations on where I might find some fancy hair clips. I'm after something on the lines of the 1920's diamanté ones that were featured in Downton Abbey recently. Have tried Accesorize but there was nothing quite right.

It's even worse than saying nothing could be done in my opinion: he's been told that nothing would be done instead.
Imagine what the poor man went through.
I have read something that summed this disaster quite well regarding the doctors not willing to remove the foetus as there was still a hearbeat: Savita had a hearbeat, too.

O my good God,I don't care what the legal rights and wrongs are but surely some doctor should have looked into the eyes of that poor dying woman and had the courage to do what needed to be done to save her life.Regardless of being struck off or even jailed.I'm not a very religious person but when I do pray,I pray for courage and compassion. That woman lingered in agony for a week,we seem to live in a pass the buck country where nobody takes responsibility. This is not an attack on doctors,I'm in a hospital right now with my mum who has cancer and I can see the tremendous work that they do but why did nobody do anything to save that desperate woman. Her poor husband, can you imagine the horror of their situation, day in day out for a week, watching her suffer while being told nothing could be done

@Eve Relax a bit, I was just setting out the arguments, not my personal opinion. In any case, providing for socio-economic rights such as 'free abortions' is not something a court can decide as it is against the separation of powers that exists in this country. Socio economic rights are ones that cost money.

A far better study for any interested ladies (should be in your local library) is "The Unborn Child in Ireland" a collection of essays that was published a few years ago. Also covers sensitive topics such as the law around assisted reproduction, which I think will be a minefield in a few years if there is not some legislation.

This is a really great article by Fiona de Londras, explaining some of the legal history around abortion in Ireland: http://www.humanrights.ie/index.php/2012/11/14/abortion-in-ireland-how-much-more-of-this-can-we-tolerate/ - at least read the final paragraph, it gets to the heart of why we need to make sure women's Constitutional right to have an abortion (albeit in limited circumstances) is actually supported by legislation.

We've been in limbo for twenty years; our elected representatives need to stop kicking the ball into the neighbour's garden and bloody well deal with it.

Karen, I've heard it's best to write a personal email (or better still, letter) to your local TD rather than using a template - they're more likely to pay attention that way.

PS - Molly, I'm not sure what's wrong with women looking for "free abortions" from the state, actually. It's not like we'll be popping in every lunchtime for another freebie.

Molly - thanks for that and yes I agree I wouldn't want TD's to decide on this, but the Medical Council should. As far as I can gather from aspects of the media if she was under a different consultant or in a different hospital then her life could have been saved?
