@Andrea, BTW yes I agree – its makes no sense for eBooks to be the same price (they’ve no printing & distribution costs) never mind more expensive! It feels like a rip-off, which is why I was tempted to turn to the “dark side”.

Sounds like a kindle would be perfect for you. If you do get one, give me a shout if you’d like to find the “occasional book” & I can give you links for fully legit books that are out of copyright. If you’re on twitter I’m @mzzzjelly.
The software I use for managing the eBooks is Calibre, its free and its great. I’m paranoid about free software & downloads because I work in software and know the dangers, but this is fully legit and I’ve had no probs.

Ah MsJelly thank you so much. You’ve literally spelled out the reason why I am putting off buying one – I have looked up and theoretically you can download free legal books from a multitude of websites and then transfer onto the Kindle via whisper-something program. I really do not understand why some ebooks are more expensive than the paperback copies.
But I’d say I will have to buy a one sooner than later, I’m renting, books are piling up again & I love reading but space really is an issue for me and that’s why I’m down to reading one book / week.
I might have to look into the ‘occasional books’ you’re talking about but I really do appreciate you taking the time to write all of that info down, thanks a lot again! xox

@Andrea, I’ve a kindle and love it! Its particularly great for travelling and very light so its easy to read in bed without flattening your nose when you fall asleep book-in-hand.

But not everyone likes them so just to give you an alternative view so you can make a good decision:
my friends & I pass around books after reading them so I used to only buy 1 in every 4 or 5 books I read. But on the kindle you can only “loan” a book to a friend for 2 weeks – assuming they have a kindle and its not much good for slower readers.
Books are pretty expensive as they don’t appear to have any offers like actual books, and if you are in Ireland you must buy from the US Amazon site which can be more expensive for British books, AND you get the US version which can be different!
And of course there’s no buying second-hand books for cheap anymore.

The reason for posting this is that I was recommending Kindles left right & centre after I got mine, but a friend got one and she never uses it, she says she just prefers having an actual book. I felt so bad after that

PS if you do get it, I recommend downloading software to help you manage the books into categories if you have a few, otherwise its a pain in the bum. And I may know a “friend of a friend” who might possibly maybe know where to get some “not-quite-official” books. I’ve always been 100% against piracy (except back in the days when I was a kid recording songs from the radio on a tape recorder!), but when its actually costing me more to buy fewer books, I might consider the occasional copy… But of course I never have done because that would be WRONG… ahem…

Evening all, on the blow dry front I purchased a brush dryer(Cosmo one from Argos) and my hair has never been so bouncy and perfect….don’t know what I’d do without it and as good as a professional blow dry…

On the holiday topic I’m looking too to no avail… : (

On a random note I have just bottled and brought home a bottle of seawater….in my hopes to clear my skin following a list of failed prescribed treatment I will just about try anything…anyone with problem skin ever tried this?
