I've gotten a lot worse with social media since I got my android. I'm constantly checking my emails and facebook for updates. I don't use Twitter all that often. I have one but it bores me. I get so many terrible posts it's generally not worth reading. I use Skype more or less every day and Pandora when I'm driving if they count?

I tried to get myself to like blogs but this is the only one I'm semi interested in and it's because it's more like an e-magazine - Cosmo but far, far less vacuous.

I keep in touch more with acquaintances on FB than close friends - hardly contact my 'real' friends through FB at all. But its great for my hobby and people I have met through my hobby - and going to events associated with it as well. So I actually use it a lot but I have very little personal stuff on there. I joined twitter and I read through my news feed occassionaly but very rarely tweet and have practically no followers! But thats ok. I am active on a forum to do with my hobby as well and know people on it in real life but theres nothing out there that I wouldn't want anyone to know or see about me. Thank god there was no facebook in my college days, can't imagine having a mad one and then the photo evidence all over FB the next day!

Have a FB account, which I check into every day, some days that's it, some days have long conversations with folk that I don't see that often. I have a twitter account, but never use it and this is the only blog I comment on.

But I do browse quite a bit, read newspapers online, followed the Ryder Cup online last night(handy since we no longer have Sky)

I have an i-Phone, but use it to keep up with my mails and take photos, and you know, phone calls and texts (remember them).

So not completely off line, but not totally committed either.

I'm a complete Facebook slut. I've got... 4, yes 4 FB pages! I have Twitter but I don't use it much; when I do I am addicted to it so I try and steer clear of it. I get some concerns over snooping online but they can only find out what people post up; it's up to you to post or not post, tag or not tag or comment or not comment on what's up there and the same goes

As for fora, yes I use a lot of them as well but in varying doses. makes up for my otherwise grey and diectionless life :)

I'm kind of divided I'm a continually threatening to delete my facebook a/c. I've only stayed on it in the last few months as people who have moved to Oz/Nz seem to be using it to keep in touch with me. I put very little of myself on FB. Deleted Bebo years ago.

I think people put up too much of themselves for the world to see, especially their kids. It just worries me a little.

This is really the only blog (or blogs that are linked from here through writers like Emma, Karen & Sue) that I comment on.

I did quite recently join Twitter, I love the immediacy of news and information and enjoy the banter that goes on during Great British Bake Off and Downton. But even on twitter I have set my account to private and only allow people to follow me who I recognise like friends or from beaut .
I'm a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to social media.

Whats this now about private messages on timeline??
I have to admit, i'm addicted to facebook. My bebo account hasnt been so much as sniffed at in about 3years,my myspace account got deleted about5years ago, and while I set up a twitter account, I never got the hang of it so don't bother with it.
While I find facebook great for the likes of keeping in touch with long distance friends and family and reconnecting with long lost friends, I have found over the years that I am no longer friends with one or two people because of facebook type crap. I find that some people are a lot more 'brave' on facebook than they are in person and can be quite free with snotty comments, digs and snide remarks because they think they can get away with it. I also find people getting annoyed and indignant over not being able to access every square inch of your page and photo albums ridiculous. As is adding people as full on friends that you have only met once, if you've even met them at all!!
Having said all that, I still can't bear not to check my page at least every few hours!!

Use the library on the weekend if I need the internet. Most things can wait. Had broadband for a while when we'd the home phone back again but cut that cut the internet.

Don't have a smart phone/E-reader. Possess a Sony notebook as we won it, but it's never used.

Brothers bought me a docking station a couple of years ago for my birthday - assumed wrongly that I had an iPod. Went back PDQ.

I read the newspaper after my husband at the kitchen table in the evening.

Killed the Facebook account I had. There are somethings I'd rather find out one to one about or not at all - rather than through Facebook.

Fair play Anorak, that sounds great. Facebook and Twitter DEFINITELY have impacted my concentration levels, I'm a disaster at work for flicking in and out. Would love to pack FB in, in particular, but I find it really brilliant for remembering people's birthdays, dunno how we did it before :)

I was on Twitter briefly and am also in recovery from a full blown FB addiction.

I'm now free of it all. Beaut.ie is the only site I use regularly.

A couple of reasons lead me to delete FB, one of which being a couple of "friends" who I felt went crazy. It's a website. It is not reality.
I now phone and meet people in 3D. So much better and I feel less giddy and better able to concentrate.
I also love not being able to stalk people and compare my own life to theirs and how skinny or married with children they are.
