Urban Decay Heavy Metal Gold Glitter Eyeliner Review + Swatch

I’ve had a tube of this particular bit of bling for nearly a year, but only really started wearing Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner, €18, since the end of January. There was a woman at a party I was at who was wearing a casual lick of sparkly gold liner with an otherwise natural-looking face of make-up, and it looked so totally amazeballs that I came very close to leaving the do immediately and racing home to dig out my tube of Heavy Metal to try it myself. I somehow managed to control myself and stay put for the night, but it’s a look I’ve channeled frequently since.

The plentiful silver-gold glitter pieces in Urban Decay Heavy Metal Midnight Cowboy are packed into a clear gel, and they’re so abundant that one slick is enough to load my upper lashline with sparkles. I’ve never had a problem with irritation or fallout, which are issues I’ve had with other glitter liners in the past and are really not problems you want to have with anything you’re putting next or near your peepers.

Best of all, it makes my eyes look wide awake, bright, and super green, and even if you’re not a magpie like myself (I wear it day and night!) it would be a dead simples way to dress up your office appropriate make-up for an evening out.

Love it.

I have these in silver, purple and green and I love them for just that reason. Great for a little dash of bling. I will have to get my hands on the gold one – looks lovely and subtle.

LuLuBabe – yep, it’s not too in-your-face (which I know sounds ridiculous because, eh, it’s glittery) but I think the fact that it’s not yella gold and that the sparkles are on the small side helps.

Actually wore it out last night above the tiniest lick of black liner, which I wouldn’t usually bother with, and it looked fab.

Nothing like a bit of glitter to brighten up one’s day.

I have THE TOTAL LOVE for these as well.

The collection 2000 versions of these are meant to be pretty good also, for a cheaper option!

Kirstie – btw love the necklace in that shot :D

    Oooh, loving this post!

I got a couple o’ these lovelies from Gosh & was a bit wary about using them – will give them a bash now!

I put the tiniest slick under my lower lashes for some unusual glitz. Or I use a dazzle dust. Get soo many complements when I do

Yeah, I remember Pixiwoo had a video about glittery eyeliners and they were blown away by the Collection 2000 one. Probaby easier to find – I passed by the UD display in Boots in Belfast recently and it looked like it had been through the Apocolypse! Just grimy empty shelves and tumbleweed….

    LOVE these!!!

  • Kitty In The City says:

I was wearing this last Fri and *twice* in a matter of hours, two different people complimented me on my eyeliner. Lasts for ages too.

I have that liner, along with a bronze, silver, green and purple and I love them! Do you wear it on your upper lash line? I wear mine on my lower lash line and at the corner and you’re right, for a glitter liner it really isn’t in-your-face! Must recommend the MUA glitter liner in a kind of goldy-silver colour also, not as comfortable to apply but for 1.05 it’s a steal, and a gorgeous colour.

I have the collection 2000 one that’s a bit like this except more gold – it’s not bad at all for the price, I find it ever so slightly itchy, probably just the glittery texture of it, but grand. I bought it after I saw a girl wearing it out one night and complimented it on her (I was one of those people for someone else KITC!) I wore it a good bit a few months ago but had gone off it. Now that I’ve rescued it from the bottom of the drawer I’ll be giving it another whirl some night soon.
The colour of the Urban Decay one looks a bit nicer alright though.

  • Lynnie says:

Mollina – I wear it on upper and lower (not at the same time, though.)

Rednailz – that’s interesting about the Collection 2000 one being itchy. I had a Sephora copper glitter eyeliner that I just couldn’t wear, made my eyelids burn 8O but I can wear other glitter liners, like this one, no problem.

GOSH have one the exact same….they have it in like 20 colours and its totally waterproof…poifec for summer!
