I find Chanel’s precision suncream works the best for me. It’s SPF 50 and is a very light fluid which leaves no trace of greasieness, It is quite expensive (50 euro) but it lasts me all year as you only need to dab a few drops on. For more extreme exposure I wear vichy’s suncream in SPF 50, a thicker cream but it isn’t as greasy as most others. As for freckles, wearing the SPF 50 all year round has killed them off.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m naturally freckly, but very careful in the sun, so I wear factor gazillion most of the time. I heat it up on my left hand (so it spreads)and apply it to my face and neck.

I also test moisturisers on the back of my hand.

Over time,I have acquired *one* old looking hand (the right), as it is way darker and more freckled.

Consider yourselves warned!

It’s not just the wrinkles of course, there’s also skin cancer to think about when protecting yourself from the sun!

At 41 I’m definitely concerned about the appearance of my hands! Make sure I use a handcream with SPF in it, but really like the sound of this stick-gadget-thing.

Been there with the burnt hands! While on holidays I did a spot of surfing for a few days. Since I was in a wetsuit, I lashed on the spf on the face. 7 hours later I realise that I’ve scorched hands and feet. Looked like I was wearing red socks and gloves for weeks!

Prudence – this is Ireland. We get sun about 5 days a year. I doubt my hands are going to shrivel up like prunes just cos I don’t use SPF. Besides – I’d like to think I’d have better things to care about than a few wrinkles on my hands.

No, cripes, you MUST mind your hands; they show age and dryness more than any other bit of you. Living in South Africa has really hammered home the sun protection message; you should see the wizened white skins here, even on quite young women.

Yep, I marked my silver car quite badly around the door handles, bonnet, top of the boot with sunscreen and only realised when the garage man mentioned it to me; since then I’ve noticed it on lots of other metallic cars.

Viola – ‘who cares what my hands look like,…’ – well, nobody really except you. And trust me, if you don’t think it’s worth the bother to protect your hands now you will in about fifteen years time, or less, depending on your age. You’ll have a couple of grand ol’ wrinkly hands on you – very attractive!

Oh God this is going too far for me. :p Yeah, okay, I’ll make the effort to protect my face and neck. But my hands?? Who cares what my hands look like, and who cares if they get a bit of sun. Besides you have to get Vitamin D somehow. :p

I always use a stick sunscreen for the backs of my hands.

Lol at don’t confuse it with your lip balm though.
