Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipsticks: Review, Pictures & Swatches

(my press pack; the bow-wrapped doofer is a lipstick case!)

While you’ll find the Kate Moss lipstick line for Rimmel at Boots stores in Ireland now, the official launch date isn’t until October 10th, as that’s when it’ll be available in pharmacies and supermarkets in the republic. I’m in London as you read, for Rimmel’s 10th anniversary celebrations of Ms Moss as face of the brand, and I’ve been checking out the lippies (officially monkiered Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick, fact fans) as well as getting the low-down on some heritage and checking out what’s coming next product-wise (lots of cool stuff).

I may have gotten to chat with Georgia May Jagger too, y’know, as one does.

Shades: 01 (Kate’s red, worn in the ads), 02 (pink) 03 (nude), 04 (deep purple)

More on all that next week: lets take a peek at Kate’s new lippies today. For €6.95, first impressions on these are very good. Ok, packaging isn’t as luxe as I’d like but this is a mass market line so you can’t expect gold accents and satisfying clunk-clicks. The shades are great from the four I’ve seen – it’s an almost Mac-alike edit.

Here are the swatches, and my quick test confirms that these are satiny-sheeny, full of pigment and film-formed to last to some extent. You can feel that there’s an ingredient in the mix that helps them cling to lips but they’re not as drying as a longwear or a matte formulation. There’s a pleasant scent and a nice sheen plus full opacity on the lips. In fact, pretty much everything I look for in a lipstick really. All that for a whisper under €7. Eh, yes please.

Shadewise, there are seven in total; I’d like to get a look at the others and check ‘em out.  Of the four I have, it’s 01 and 02 that I’ll really get the wear from. 12 seems to be a coral/orange from swatches on the Rimmel site, and I’d imagine the brand plans to add to the line too as time goes on.

And the requisite lip swatch. This is 02 in action. Love this colour.

Have you tried the Kate Moss lipstick line yet or will you wait for it to land at your local pharmacy in October?

Heya Orna – max factor xperience. And thanks, I look a bit haggard, that was taken at the end of the day before I whipped it off and reapplied for the night’s events. Totally exhausted now, about to fly home and have come down with a rotten cold overnight. someone call me a whambulance!!

  • ArtDonatella says:

Hehe,Kirstie, of course you love no.2! Guess what I’ll be checking out next time I’m in Boots? Yeah, you got it right, No.2 :D!

Looking very Pearl Lowe-ish in the pic, love it! :)
I wonder what the red one’s like on…?

  • Lieenie says:

@Kristie you feeling haggard looks pretty! Saw these a couple of weeks ago in boots but they were just being put out and there were no testers. I don’t like to judge on the indicators. Like MAC but €7! Intriguing!

  • Kirstie says:

AD – I always think of you when I write lipstick posts!

  • Daisydaisy says:

  • Emz says:

Kicking myself that I didn’t pick up one or two of these last weekend as when I went back into Boots Half Moon St last night, most of them were sold out – hopefully they’ll be back again or can pick them up in a local pharmacy in October. Love no2!

  • BerG says:

Think i feel an iminent trip to Boots coming on. On the lookout for a peach toned coral colour.

  • dublinista says:

I have the Nude 03 too – I have it on me now and I love it. Perfer it to Mac Jubilee which was my previous favourite nudie.

  • Ellie Balfe says:

I bought the red in Boots the other day – it’s fab – a really brightening, wearable shade. Shade 02 looks fab on you Kirstie… you luscious lipped lovely, you!

  • ArtDonatella says:

Hehe, you do? Flippin’ flattered I am :D! Nothing makes me as excited as lipsticks & perfumes do :D! Freakin’ love them!

  • Chris says:

None of the colors are really for me. :/

  • littlesis says:

Looks like a great line, I’m loving the red on you Kirstie!

  • Breige says:

Kirstie, that looks fab on you! And I like the look of the nude one too

  • SJP's Missing Mole says:

Well isn’t this the maddest timing! I’ve just come in the door from Boots with 3 of these bad boys in my pocket (It was 3 for 2, it would have been rude not to…..)

And even more madly – they’re the 3 you don’t have!

I plumped for No. 8 – very subtle wearable work-appropriate dusky muted rose; No. 12, the coral – which I think could well be a dupe for MAC Lady Danger but I don’t own LD so can’t compare; and No. 5 which is like No. 2 but just a shade less bright – so a pretty true pink. Again, I’ll get a lot of use out of it.

I think the coral may be my favourite. It’s just so cheerful! I don’t have anything like it at all, and it’s very bright and very modern and trendy, but I think it actually suits me! Shock!

I really wanted to love the No. 2 but it was just popping out of my face screaming “FUSCHIA!!!” And when you’re a blonde sometimes fuschia makes you look at bit….not too classy…:D

  • Fee says:

Sounds promising, will defo check these out. The nude swatch appears a most odd colour to me but as people seem to be liking it ‘in the wild’ I’m guessing it might be my monitor. The purple looks very hard to wear.

  • Gee Gee says:

Loving all of them, might take a trip into Boots later.

  • baaaadsheep says:

I thought Kate Moss was Dior’s face now…? Or have they dropped her and she’s switched back to Rimmel?
