Foot Pillows by Perfection: Like fluffy cloud insoles for your flats

ballet flats

Ballet flats with a birrov bling on the vamp are my ultimate go-to everyday shoes. They're super comfy for a day's schlepping all around London without fear of falling off them and twisting an ankle (or knee - I'm really not good in heels!) and go perfectly with my default uniform of skinny jeans or skirt/shorts plus opaque tights, blazer, and scarf.

They have a couple of failings, of course. They're no longer trendy, but I'm fine with that thanks partly to my encroaching elderliness and partly  to the fact that while I love the look of brogues (The New Flats) on other people, I look Geek Almighty in them.

A bigger problem is that a full day on the skinny soles of ballet flats can lead to some serious foot fatigue.

Enter these foot pillow yokes. You've probably seen them en route to the till point in clothes stores a million times without even giving them a second glance, but my sister persuaded me to give them a whirl and I'm a total convert now: they are freaking amazing.

I bought my first pair, made by a crowd called Perfection, in New Look for €6.99 at the end of a long day on my feet when I'd have preferred to lie down in the middle of the road and risk being hit by a lorry than walk any further. I peeled off the backing, stuck them adhesive side down into my bejewelled leopard print flats, and instantly experienced a moment of complete aaaaaaahhh-inducing relief.

They have two mounds of squishy cushioned comfort goodness for the heel and ball of the foot on a slim one-piece demi-insole that doesn't make shoes feel tight or too-small, and the sister tells me she's seen them in pink, purple, and black in the likes of Dorothy Perkins and River Island.

Mine, for those who are hanging on the edge of their seat wondering, are pink, but I'd go with black in future because they do tend to look a bit, well, well-loved rather quickly.

They may look a bit manky now, but they're still the best almost seven quid a flats fiend ever spent on her feet!
