Noncomedogenic

You know the way your mother used to tell you to take off your makeup before you went to bed at night? Well she was right and now we know why .

If you leave makeup on at night you give it a chance to seep into your skin - yuk! It will clog your pores and encourage whiteheads and blackheads and spots, the whole shebang.

And even worse, if you do take off your makeup and slap a rich night cream on your face, if it's the wrong sort it will still clog up your pores.

Dermatologists recognise a condition called acne cosmetica - spots caused or worsened by the wrong types of cosmetics. Usually greasy lanolin based creams and similiar.

Noncomodegenic is a term which you see more and more on beauty product descriptions. It simply means oil free or non pore clogging. It used to be only used in reference to acne fighting products but now the mainstream beauty industry has taken the concept on board.

Look out for anything labelled noncomedogenic if your skin has a tendency to clog up. Your skin will look clearer and fresher and you'll be a lot less likely to get spots, no matter what your age.

Lancome Colour ID Precise Match Weightless Makeup is noncomedogenic and oil free and L'Oreal also do a good range. Neutrogena, Aveena and Covergirl's noxzema ranges are all worth checking out.
