For the Love of God, Help me Name my Tweezers

By | March 3 2010 | 42 Comments

Inspired by the tweezer thread over in the forums, and now in possession of a camera that’ll capture images that you can actually SEE, I hatched a plan.

Years ago, I bought the tweezers above in what was then Roches on Henry street. It is the best set I have ever owned (yes, even better than Tweezerman): perfectly sprung, it has razor-sharp, super-angled tips and despite being dropped on tiled floors far too many times to mention, has never blunted or decreased in its almost magical abilities to search out and destroy even the teeniest of hairs.

There’s just one problem.

I have no idea what the brand is. Zero. Zilch. I’ve Googled, I’ve hunted high and low across continents (literally) and have never seen one the same again. I don’t recognise the brand, and in fact have never been able to make it out – it could be upside down in the pic for all I know. Sometimes I think it reads ‘Men’, sometimes ‘Noul’, depending on which way I’m holding it.

So here’s where you lot come in: does anyone recognise it? Can any of you wonderous Beaut.ies enlighten me as to what my tweezers are? Leave a comment if you know, please – because boy oh boy, do I want a back-up.

    The mystery of the tweezers….

No idea I’m afraid! Hopefully some will recognise them.

Looks like M o N or M N to me but I know 90 yr olds with better eyesight than me so wouldn’t go by what I say

  • Olaola says:

I thought M o N too, daiseeboo… but Google search brings no results for that. Hmmm…

  • tinydancer says:

I’m sorry, I have no idea either but I would also love to know because these tweezers look amazing!! Will be keeping an eye out from now on…

Googled MoN and MN and nothing, that’s me all out of suggestions. You do know that things like this drive me mental Kirstie so you have to figure this out or I shall have another restless night tonight trying to figure out what those elusive letters actually are.

  • BerG says:

Could the first letter be a p maybe, for preN but it does’nt seem to bring up anything on a search. Its a nusance, will be thinking about it all day now.

  • Olaola says:

It’s so annoying. I hate not being able to find the thing I’m looking for on Google. I’m usually really good at that so when I come across something that just WON’T BE FOUND it really does my head in…

  • cch says:

Do you remember if they were bought loose or in packaging? From a stand or off a shelf? Or a rough idea how much they cost…? In punts probably :-)
Not to put down your photographic skills but a picture of the whole thing might help too…

  • Ruth says:

agghh.. this is really annoying me now.. NEED to figure it out

  • Kirstie says:

they were in a plastic pack, similar to the mr mascara products; about 20 pounds I think, about 7 or 8 years ago. No joke! I think the logo’s goig to be the best identifier which is why I honed in on it.

  • JustMe says:

i would of said it says ‘Pren’

  • Mags says:

Hang on – if you turn the image upside down does is say ‘Nail? Very general word I know but might that be a clue?

  • cch says:

Two random suggestions – search Google images (or other picture archives) or try find someone who worked there at the time! Some of the staff in Debenhams now might have been there then…?

  • Aphrodite says:

First letter N or P? last letter N – but this is supposing that it’s even written using our characters – it could be Indonesian or Japanese
    Or something
I don’t have a notion, don’t recognise it at all

  • Orlando says:

If there was an incentive you’d have MILLIONS of suggestions pouring in :P upside down it kinda reads as ‘Now’…?

  • Sha Sha says:

this is going to drive me miiiin-tal. Whilst looking though i found this…

  • shauna says:

I think it looks like “preen”

and long shot as it is, its not this one?

  • Aphrodite says:

Sha Sha – checked out that site and spotted

  • Aphrodite says:

Mags – yes upside down may be the way to go here. Now I’M getting obsessed too!

  • daiseeboo says:

What I particularly like about the swirly do Aphrodite is the part in the product description that states ‘They holds on tight and comes out smoothly’. What are the chances that was written by a gummy aul fella from a John Wayne movie, it’s slightly more amusing than just assuming it’s a typo?
