NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base: Shadow holds tight

Nars pro prime

Eyeshadow primer is a must-have for greasy-lidded gals like myself. As well as keeping carefully applied eye make-up in place all day (or night) long,  it eliminates that line of errant nastiness where shadow gathers in the crease of the eyelid. I've tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion in the past, so when I received a trial size of NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base as a free gift from Sephora (it's €25 on Narscosmetics.eu as a guide) I was keen to see how it'd compare.

This is a powdery feeling liquid of thickish consistency, and it's white rather than flesh-coloured so it works really nicely as a mixing medium. That doesn't mean it stands out on the lids when applied all over, though; rather, it maximises colour intensity.

It dries quickly to a matte finish but still manages to retain some slip, which makes easy work of blending eyeshadow - I find that I have to move really quickly with Shadow Insurance before it sets absolutely rock hard which is inclined to make blending difficult and can sometimes be a complete pain in the ass.

I don't like the applicator wand and can foresee frustration when I can't reach the last dregs in the tube, and I'm honestly not sure the colour intensity and additional play time is worth the extra spend.
