If you haven't guessed by now, I like a shortcut. I'm a busy bee and don't really have time to spend on, well, anything much. So things that work, save me minutes and make my life a little easier are always ones I'm gonna embrace.
And if they cost €1.49, then hey, so much the better, right?
Essence's French Manicure Tip Guards are blimmin' brilliant, filthy cheap and super-effective. I'm not into the trad French but am a firm fan of differently-coloured tips and half moons. Problem is, I'm not that great at getting the paint job as nice and tidy as I'd like.

That's where these come in: once you've got your base shade in place and it's dry, you can place the tip guides, which are lightly adhesive on one side, across the nail. Press them gently into place and then paint on your accent colour. It doesn't matter if you go over the guide a little as it acts as a mask, and when you remove them - once your tip shade has dried - you'll be left with a lovely sharp finish.
(sshhh, I know this is really messy and bumpy-looking. Dear readers, this is because I did not take my own advice, as outlined above. Learn? Me? NEVER)
