Diorskin Nude: Not just for normal-to-dry skins, y’know…

By Lynnie | May 13 2009 | 27 Comments

When Kirstie posted about Dior’s latest foundation offering away back in February, I remember thinking “God, that sounds so nice. It’d never stay put on me, though.” That didn’t stop me going a-begging for a sample of Diorskin Nude, naturally, and I was so impressed with it that I went off and shelled out the fairly massive €43 asking price for a bottle when my freebie ran out.

Coverage is light-to-medium, comparable I think to something like Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation, but is buildable and, unlike LSF, very blendable. Diorskin Nude gives a radiant and dewy, but not shiny, natural finish, which usually means my combo-to-oily skin can kiss a foundation bye-bye by lunchtime as it slips and melts right off the fisog. This one, though, is staying put from early morning to evening, and I can’t quite believe my luck that a foundation which makes me look so good – glowy with a superbly even complexion, if I do say so myself – actually suits my skin.

Man, I love it when a plan comes together!

I find this really long lasting too, it’s a fab products

I got the powder version of this, and finding it great for my combo skin. Light-to-medium coverage as well, with a nice glowy finish.

  • Teddie says:

ya wanna hear something REALLY annoying

    £21 in London………

  • Lynnie says:

Presume that’s for the powder, Teddie? Annoying is right, though – RRP for the fluid in the UK is £26.50 and friend of mine picked some up in Debenhams in Newry a while back… it came through as €30 on her Visa.

    I was very nearly sick.

I love this! It really does stay on my combination skin! Does anyone know if Edinburgh airport stock it? I’m over for the w/e! Maybe i’m better to get it in a dept store over there?

  • Lis says:

It sounds great-does anyone know if its oil-free???

  • LouLaBelles says:

Im currently using Mac- Studio Sculpt and I have never come across worse foundation. It just slides off.
Might have a look at this Dior, I looked at it before and dunno why I didnt go for it!
    Hate foundation shopping!

  • daisy says:

I really like it too but I think €43 is a bit steep its €12 more expensive than my other fave mac studio fix fluid! I also think I got the wrong shade in debenhams looked fine in the bad lighting in the shop but I knew in my heart 030 sounded very dark for my pale skin! Might get my mum to get me a lighter shade in duty free when she’s off on hol’s in a few weeks!

Oh no, can I feel my monogamous relationship with Luminous Silk hitting a rough patch? ;)

I have 2 smashbox foundations (you would think I’d know better) and find that the coverage is so light that it seems I don’t have any foundation on at all, but not in a good way. Has anyone else found this. I find that I’m lashing it on to no good effect. I think I might try this new Dior one.

  • Millie says:

what shade did u go for in this one

  • MaryK6 says:

i just got the camera ready from smashbox and am inclined to agree with you its nice but not great
thinking of gettting the dior one too. got the smashbox glos tho that changes the colour of you lips and its nice.

  • Lenuska says:

You will just keep teasing me with this foundation until I will go and buy it
I hate buying foundations, I got it wrong so many times, but this one sounds so good, I will probably give it a try over the weekend, at least a sample.

  • Ellie Bellie says:

Lynnie where did you manage to get a sample of this?? I just popped into Brown Thomas there during my lunchbreak and the girl told me they don’t give samples but would I like to make an appointment to try it on?!

  • Fabulash! says:

Heya girls (And possibly Guys!?!?) would i be right in guessing that this would make a nice summer foundation?? that is if we get a minute of sunshine in this place!hahaha. Cheers.

  • Lynnie says:

    Lis, I don’t think it’s oil-free.

Millie, I’m using 021 as I’m wearing tan nearly full-time at the moment, the sample I got was 020 which was poifect for me sans tan. I’d usually wear a mix of shades 1 & 2 in Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light or NW20 in MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid.

Ellie Bellie, I got my sample from Morehampton Pharmacy in Donnybrook. The girl there was lovely, she had no samples either but she squirted about a week’s worth into one of those little brown screw-top medicine jars for me and labelled it up – without my having to ask. Would never buy a foundation without getting a sample to try In Real Life – and I’d usually have my own little container with me, just incase ;) You can buy clear screw-top pots from Boots or Muji or anywhere else that does containers you can decant liquids etc into when travelling, they’re ideal for the job.

That’s great, in Donnybrook this Saturday so I’ll pop in. Thanks Lynnie!!

If this is the real mc coy it solves my luminous silk problem. Love the stuff but i can only get it in BT in Dublin when Im at home none in Limerick. But they do have a Dior stand…

  • Kirstie says:

to me it’s way way way nicer than luminous silk. It has decent coverage for a start and it lasts all day. Loves it, I does.

  • jill says:

luminous silk didnt suit me at all. this does though- i’m on the dry skin side though. its slightly pale for me at the mo (020 nude) so i’m mixing it with the cheap as chips new maybelline one in a darker shade (which i love!) satin liquid finish or something its called. I have them in a little travel pot together. That might be mad, but it works for me.

ellie bellie i had the same experience in bt. no i didnt want to make and appt to try on foundation thanks very much. A nice SA in macauleys in wexford did it for me there and then one saturday afternoon.
