Mascara. Ah mascara. That most elusive of beauty products. Even after you've managed to source the ultimate foundation for your skin tone and type, worked out what shadow shades suit your colouring and have done battle - and won - with blusher, mascara still manages to baffle us. It's no surprise that it's the most popular beauty product there is, probably because we're all constantly buying new ones in a vain attempt to find The Ultimate.
While I don't think the 2-step XXL Curl Power from Maybelline is the holy grail, it's actually pretty good for a product that costs €12.99 (get it on promotion at Boots now for €9.99). Claiming to curl and volumise for up to 12 hours, I found that it curled alright. Yup, the initial curly end lifted lashes, and then it was time to whack on the second step, the mascara, with 'CurLock' formula.

Designed to give volume without clumping or smudges, what it really did was, er, coat lashes with mascara. I didn't really see any wild difference in volume, though length was increased, so I'm thinking that this is a great product for ladies with already abundant lashes. Sadly for those of you with fine ones, the search continues.
