Before my wedding I thought I’d brave it and go for my 1st ever Brazillian (it only took a few years of extended waxing to get the nerve up). 1st, I thought sting knickers were given…. but no there I sat in the buff. 2nd, she dropped a huge glob of wax right – uhhem – in the centre were shall we say the little landing strip should have been. I looked at her red face with fear. And that is how I had my first Hollywood…. except she wasn’t fully trained for that wax and was left with a weird ring of hair on the underside and NO landing strip.

I ended up shaving the remaining ‘ring’ that night (big mistake as it itched the entire honeymoon as it grew back!) I won’t shame the salon because the girl was just having a bad day and well they did give me the wax for free and complimentary gems to ‘hide’ the mistake on my big day.

Lesson to learn: Even the best of the best therapists can have bad days! You should always complain to management if you aren’t happy because in the end of the day the true judgement of the salon should really be how well they handle the situation and compensate you! I’ve since had several horrible experiences – some places are so rude in the way they handle complaints (one in Sandycove comes to mind) and others have been so apologetic and offered some great compensation that I almost felt guilty for complaining.

Ive found a FAB new salon with very lovely girls working in it and haven’t had any more complaints! Finally thank God!

Hair for debs was in no way what I asked for. I love how they go “yeah” and do something completely different. Didn’t like my make up either (wanted smokey eyes….there was practically no eye make up applied)…but most people said it was lovely.

Oh and once was going to the Trinity ball and asked for “soft waves” ….I came out like Shirley Temple and the curls did not “drop” as promised!

About a month ago I just got my fringe trimmed in a Dublin salon where the girl cut out the nice long side bits on the right side that “blended” it with the rest of my locks.

Not having much luck with the RHS of me head at the minute!!!

I looked down and it was right on the tip of my tongue to say “you’ve never been to Brazil, have you?” but she was such a sweet girl I just left it. Same salon spent over an hour on the worst french pedicure EVER… was picking white polish off my toes for a WEEK!

Was waxed twice in Nue Blue Eriu, first time I was left with a sideways patch of hair, second time covered in patches of wax, hair and blood!! I also paid in advance for a pedicure but funnily enough never went for it… probably too late to ask for a refund now though!

On the flipside got a pedicure in Mink in ballsbridge two weeks ago… still not even a chip in the polish im so impressed!

a lot of our disasters have to do with wax it seems – there’s a common theme running through everyone’s stories…

yeah I agree ams – don’t get waxed in asia unless you’re ready for the unexpected!
