Lookit, we didn’t think she ever had bad hair days either. But the ever-fabulous golden girl is being sued by Los Angeles company 220 Laboratories for fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, breach of confidence and a whole rake of other nasties.
Apparently, 220 Laboratories gave Hudson and celebridee hairstylist David Babaii samples of prototype hair care products containing volcanic ash from the Vanatu Islands in the South Pacific. This was with a view to developing a full hair care range containing the ash that the two would ultimately promote, per an oral agreement supposedly in place between all parties. However the lawsuit basically claims that, in truly dastardly fashion, the duo nicked the special secret ingredient known as “Vanatu Complex” that the lab had developed, had one of the lab’s competitors manufacture it… and then passed it off as their own creation in the David Babaii for Wildaid range.
To add insult to injury, it’s alleged that footage of a number of 220 Laboratories employees collecting the volcanic ash in question was used in the promo pitch to their rival. Ouch.
Kate’s representatives are vigorously rubbishing the claims – no doubt they’re keen to wash this one right out of her hair, eh?
