America – Land of the free, home of the Maybelline Full’n’Soft

Maybelline Full’n

Remember this? Maybelline’s Full’n’Soft mascara was a big favourite of mine, until for some unknown reason they decided to discontinue it over here. Ever since I’ve tried numerous other mascaras, some good and some bad, but none have come close to Full’n’Soft and its winning combination of inky black pigment, lack of clumps and power to hold a curl all day.

So how happy was I to come across my old friend once again on my recent trip to the US? Very happy indeed! And it’s just as good as I remembered. So if you have also been lamenting the disappearance of Full’n’Soft in recent years, look out for it if you happen to be in the US anytime soon, and make sure to stock up…

I liked that one too – wonder why they don’t sell it here any more?

This is definitely the best everyday mascara I have used. I too stocked up on my last visit to the US (and also got a couple on ebay). I look at the Maybelline stands every now and then in the vain hope that they will re-introduce it here.

My HG mascara was Maybellin LASH by LASH and it was discontinued altogether.

They replaced it with LASH discovery which is good but not as good. Can only be got in the states so I did stock up but have run out again.

My brother goes to the states a good bit and I asked him to get me a few. He brought me home the green tube (which I find useless). I’d say he was in a drug store saw the maybellin counter saw the word mascara and lash and went – oh that’s it.

this is discontinued here?!I stocked up on loads ages ago cos somewhere was getting rid of a Maybelline stand and selling stuff off cheap.I’m going to cry when I need to get more,it’s my favourite mascara!

I’ve complained about this to Maybelline, and got the most idiotic response either.

Not only is it still for sale in the US, but a hell of a lot of people agree that it is THE BEST MASCARA THAT MAYBELLINE MAKE – and one of the best mascaras in existence, full stop. Take a look at makeupalley.com (the main worldwide makeup review and discussion site).

The waterproof is amazing. Probably the best waterproof mascara I’ve ever used. Properly waterproof, but leaves lashes soft and supple.

You may be able to get it in France and Belgium – I believe it’s still being sold there, but under Gemey-Ricils-Maybelline.

Contrary to anything people might tell you, L’Oreal Voluminous is NOT the same…

When I moved back to Ireland, it basically took me over a year to get unhooked from my Full And Soft addiction. The two nearest mascaras I’ve found – to the regular formula, mind you – are
    Origins Fringe Benefits
    Clinique Long Pretty Lashes
(plus Clarins Fix’ Mascara on top for waterproofing).

Can we start a full-on campaign? This stuff is the bomb!!! Speaking as a gingerry wearer of many mascaras, every day for 23 years now…

P.S. Oh yes, and Origins make-up is going… in the autumn… I haven’t checked with the lovely ladies in Clerys yet, but everywhere else (i.e. Arnotts, House of Fraser Dundrum, and the UK website) says Origins are stopping distributing it in Europe.

So if – the Clinique aside – anyone else has found a good dupe for the Full, pleeeeeeeeeease tell all!!!
