As Aphrodite already mentioned, last night we were at the O'Reilly Hall in UCD, dressed to the nines, for the black tie L'Oreal Colour Awards. As the host, RTE's Pamela Flood (she looked absolutely beautiful) pointed out, this event really is the Oscars for the Irish hair industry, and boy, did they pull out all the stops. The O'Reilly Hall was unrecognizable in its awards incarnation - glamorously decorated tables strewn with rose petals; gold and velvet swagged chairs and lame napkins were the order of the day, and champagne was thrust into our eager paws upon arrival. This all boded extremely well for what was to come. Oh yes.
A spectacle, as it turned out, with a lot of audience participation! Getting several hundred hairdressers and beauty professionals together in a room is a sure fire recipe for a lot of fun, wolf whistling and dancing. And the dresses - gorgeous. These gals know how to pull out all the stops and I have never seen so many immaculate coiffures and maquillages in one room at the same time. And this is before we get to the shoes, as Aphrodite already mentioned in blather. I'm a shoe nut, and spent far too much time gazing at feet, when I should have been looking at hair.
Oh yes, hair. The reason we were there - so, who won? Well ladies, all I can say is, if you want to get your hair coloured, then you've got to head to House of Colour in Dublin, because they scooped an amazing 3 awards. Dylan Bradshaw and Toni & Guy also won prizes, but it's safe to say the night belonged to House of Colour - and boy, were they pleased about it! Models rocked the catwalk showcasing the entrants efforts - all elegant and very fashion forward do's, and the main event finaled with an amazing performance by some seriously gorgeous and sensuous models and dancers to Death in Vegas' Dirge. Impressed? Oh yeah.
We met so many great people too - we had chats with our pals Ellie & Ken from Boylan and Balfe and we got to meet some lovely ladies from the Irish Daily Mail, as well as the very pretty and Rachel Weisz-seque Triona McCarthy, the Sunday Indo's beauty editor, who confessed she loved the blog. Yay! We love you Triona!
