e.l.f Cosmetics

elfWhat could be more perfect for Christmas than a cosmetics brand called e.l.f?

What it actually stands for is Eyes Lips Face, and it’s a really, really cheap brand who claim that their “philosophy is that beauty comes from within” and that they believe  “that innovative technology, quality ingredients and superb delivery systems should not be limited to prestige retailers. Every woman should have the opportunity to participate in innovation, without sacrificing her budget”. And budget it is – loads of the products retail at £1! True to their word, they don’t skimp on what’s important – the range is designed with daily use in mind and the products contain sunscreens, and are suitable for those with problem skin.

Cheap treats include a lush sounding Shimmering Facial Whip which is a multipurpose, on-the-go facial shimmer cream which is packed full of vitamins B, C and E. It’s like cheapo HighBeam! Their Shielding Gloss range is fortified with SPF15 and comes in 6 shades, and face products include Tone Correcting Concealer and Clarifying Pressed Powder.

There are also products for nails and a tool range which includes brushes, eyelash curlers, toe separators and pencil parers – and all at a mere pound sterling each. You’d be hard pressed to spend a tenner, but I think I’m definitely going to try!

Used them before, cheap as chips alright, but the postage was a flat rate of £10 (i.e. about €15). Not sure if that’s still the case.

That takes the shine off it alright. The site says that orders over 35 STG are free, but god, you’d be hard pressed to spend that amount! What were the products themselves like?

Is it just me or is the range of products on the UK site quite skimpy?? I ended up on the US site by accident and they have way more, there isn’t even an eyelash curler on the UK one…

  • Admin says:

Yeah! It’s bizarre because if you browse by product there are loads of lovely looking things, and then if you go into the store section…there’s feck all. Weird. Maybe they’re just low on stock at the moment?

Or maybe the prices are cheap for a reason!!!!!!! They sound great and super cute but I am always a bit suspicious about what’s in the products if they are that cheap

  • Admin says:

Oh I know what you mean. But in my tireless work to bring you gals new makeups I have been testing some cheaper stuff recently and in general I’m quite impressed!

  • glittergirl says:

Well that’s good and seeing as you girls are the wise ones of products I might take a leaf and try out a few – product snob that I am!!!!!

  • Admin says:

I think you could DEFINITELY give the pair of us a run for our money!

  • sarah says:

I didn’t like the eye pencils that much, but then again my eyes have a very tetchy relationship with most eye pencils. The lip balms are nice: in vanilla, strawberry & orange. And I quite liked the hypershine lip gloss. I would definitely have ordered them again had the postage not been so bad.

I got an eyelash curler from the site, but maybe they’ve discontinued it?

    UGENT!!!HELP!!!MY HEART IS BREAKING!!!
    I CANT GET MY ORDER
Can someone please tell me how to get the attention of the folks at E.L.F. After placing a an order for over 100 items on October 11, 2007, (today is December 19) I have still not recieved my order, have called 7 times, yes 7, and been told it has been shipped 3times. Now, no one is answering the phones at all!!!! The harshest part of all this is that the makeup was for some women in shelters who are trying to get their feet back on the ground and feel good about themselves after their lives have made them homeless. These were Christmas gifts, well thougt out and planned for in advance. My heart is breaking that I now am not going to fulfill my part of a team plan to do some great things for these women. Can someone please tell me how to get the attention of the folks at E.L.F. to get my stuff shipped. URGENT!!!
